Los Angeles – August 8, 2003 – Bruce Broughton’s American Hero opens a special concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ first flight.

In his August 11 concert review, contributing writer for the Daily Variety, Joel Hirschhorn, describes American Hero as setting “the regal, reverent opening tone for a Hollywood Bowl evening dedicated to great American Achievers”. Mr. Hirschhorn continues by saying that Bruce Broughton’s American Hero is an “expertly orchestrated, exciting piece,” which “aptly established a sense of airborne wonder”.

American Hero was originally commissioned by the Band of The United States Air Force Reserve and was written in the summer of 2000. It is dedicated to Brig. General Robert L. Scott, Jr., author of the book God Is My Co-Pilot. The book was later made to a movie and tells the story of General Scott’s flying experience during World War II.
