Well-versed in scoring historical miniseries for television, Bruce Broughton was an ideal choice for this very human portrait of the first president of the United States. With a score that captures the authenticity of the time, Broughton employs a measured blend of stateliness and charm to imbue the notably stiff persona of the first commander-in-chief with warmth and thoughtful intellect.
Presented in stereo from Broughton’s own 1/4-inch two-track tapes (as the original multi-track masters are long-gone), this Intrada Signature Edition release is made possibly largely through the courtesy of MGM and includes more than several chamber pieces composed and adapted by the composer, among which is a captivating treatment of the familiar “Chester” melody.
