Los Angeles – January 26, 2004 – Bruce Broughton scores Disney’s Three Musketeers at the Newman Scoring Stage.

The Three Musketeers is the first animated, musical feature to star Mickey, Donald and Goofy together. In this funny musical, Mickey plays a janitor who dreams of the ultimate promotion to musketeer-hood, but knows that his co-workers, Donald and Goofy, have a long way to go. Assuming they will fail to get the job done, Captain Peg-Leg Pete makes the trio official musketeers and assigns them to “protect” Princess Minnie, in a cowardly plot to rid the kingdom of the only mouse standing between Pete and the throne.

The film, which recreates the style of the classic Disney films of the 1940’s, is charming, funny, engaging and wonderful to look at. The backgrounds were painted with watercolors, and the animation was produced at Disney’s Australian animation studio, and the Burbank lot.

Bruce Broughton’s music is a sheer delight. The masterful score is artfully weaved into the story line and helps create the fun-filled humorous atmosphere. The music is witty and colorful. It is as orchestrally brilliant as you would expect a Bruce Broughton score to be.

The film was directed by Donovan Cook and is due to be released directly to DVD on August 17, 2004 in the United-States, and on August 23, 2004 in the United-Kingdom. It is recommended for anyone who just wants to laugh.
